Howzat — another Warney - Geoff McClure - Opinion - theage.com.au: "AND we've got to the bottom of the reason why Colin Stoner, father of Casey Stoner, cracked it with race officials at Phillip Island at the weekend. It was to do with a story in the official program by Ken Wootton (former editor of Australian Motorcycle News), who extensively quoted English-based South African Michael Scott, who has been covering the 500cc/MotoGP scene for nearly 30 years. Scott basically said Stoner had been prickly to deal with in the past, but was now showing signs of maturity. Colin Stoner obviously saw red but was told there was nothing to apologise for, that people who paid $8 for an official program deserved more than puff pieces about Casey. Those in the know say it's almost impossible for local press to get an interview with Stoner, even specialised magazines"

Good thing he's not racing in Grand-Am, a series run by Edmonson since 1999. A Grand-Am Prototype (the car costs at least $700,000) driver finishing seventh at VIR after racing 250 miles would have won a $4,000 purse. How do you think a Grand-Am Prototype team's weekend expenses compare to Wood's Supersport 600 effort?

Joking aside, I was here to learn as much as I could and my main priority was to finish the race. I had a few good moves on the track but also some mistakes. I asked to change the set-up of the car after the qualifying session but that made my car worse as I had little grip in the rear. In all, I really loved my experience and can't wait to start again.'"
