Just a comment on the line, "They need to bring back that audience they've lost." - and Keith's already heard this story. I know one person, and only one, who's been "lost" as a motorcycle race fan, and here's why: She was at Mid-Ohio the day Larry Schwarzbach died. Every time I mention motorcycle racing, she reminds me of that day and tells me that she will never go to another motorcycle race. Somehow, it doesn't strike me that DMG's approach will bring this audience back to motorcycle racing.
"The audience they lost" is similar to Edmonson's "payday" line in that it is mistakenly taken out of context. In this case, the audience lost is from NASCAR, not AMA Roadracing. It is the NASCAR venues that have to replace the spectators who stopped going to NASCAR races.
